Business Cards & Stickers

These have obviously been a long time coming!  Moo cards had a deal going a couple weeks back so I pulled the trigger and ordered some.  Here’s the set!

I’ve always liked the vertical design style.

The stickers are about 1” square and have rounded corners.  They even had me choose what color booklet I wanted them to come in!

This project in the history of Rachel Mahan Art & Design was a long dream coming true. Thanks again for following and helping with my logo vote Week 24!

"Chalkboarded" Picture in Frame
31” x 25”

This week I took part in the Pinterest Challenge (the reason I’m posting today instead of Friday) and this is the project I was inspired by…

…found on my DIY Pinterest Board here.  If you love to create and need a place to store ideas and be inspired, I HIGHLY suggest you request an invite for Pinterest.  I know there are other examples of chalkboards out there, but this one had me.

Here’s the one I made from a $4 find at a local thrift store.  I didn’t have near as great of lighting… which was what probably caught my eye the most in the picture above.

I wish I had taken a before picture!  Imagine a dull sailboat picture looking weathered with old water streaks & a wood/metallic frame.  Trust me, it was ugly.

It now hangs in our baby room waiting to be complimented by other things that will tie it into the room…more to come on that in the next few months!

I would love for you to link in the comments to your Pinterest Challenge Projects!

Potential
Acrylic on 5” x 8” Moleskin Notebook

Since given the challenge of buying a Moleskin from our church to support a school being built in India and creating a unique cover for it, I have been stumped.  Go big, or go home.  I kept thinking, I can’t just send this to some kid in India with a half-hearted cover on it.

I was stumped, until earlier this week.  I’ve had this painting stored away as an idea for awhile.

I titled this painting “Potential” based on Isaiah 61:11 and how we expect a seed, given what it needs, has so much potential for growth.  The actual canvas painting will look a little less elementary, but this one is meant to make a little one smile. I pray that for the special kid who will receive our notebook.

Potential of the Gospel going out. Potential for this student. Potential for the school. Potential for India and other nations. Please pray with us this week for the India Team!

P.S.  I know some of you may be asking, “where is her Pinterest Challenge Project?”  That one is finished too, but I’m posting it next week.  Our India team from our church leaves today and I felt the timing of this post was more important.

Behind the scenes:  I had to do two projects this week because we are leaving for 10 days so next week’s post is already set to go!  I’ll give you a hint…it involves chalkboard paint and a special room in our apartment!

Reusable Coffee Sleeves

If you haven’t noticed in a couple of my posts, I am a coffee lover.  So, I went with a coffee project this week.  First up is the one made from my favorite fabric (got it for $1/yard before Walmart stopped selling fabrics…needless to say I use this fabric sparingly) with peach buttons I bought at the Britex Fabric store in San Francisco.

As much as I would love to say that these 52 projects are solely what I want to create, Kevin still has a say sometimes.  He prodded me to make one a little more unique.  I thought for a moment and decided to sew one that I could paint on!

It’s called “Away to…Paris” because it seems like sitting in a cafe often takes us to a different place.  I think more will follow!

I listed a couple projects in my art Etsy store a couple weeks ago and these will now be listed in my handmade/crafty Etsy store (although “Away to…Paris” will have to wait because the fabric medium used on it needs 7 days to fully dry).

Have a great weekend!
