Striped “Vases”

This project was great because it made use of the vases we still have setting around from our wedding and they are so versatile!  I saw the idea on Pinterest (I have to limit my time per day on this site) which led me to Mark Montano’s Website whom I give credit to.  I used twine, Heirloom White spray paint, and 2 tall glass vases.  You can go to the site to see his, here’s mine:

As Tea Light Luminaries

As Candle Holders

And, as a Vase

And, I have to give credit to Amanda who is the woman behind Amanda Carver Designs for her continued inspiration to go spray paint something!  Thanks for checking out 52 Projects this week!

Anniversary Album

Scrapbooking is not something I enjoy.  As much as I love layout and design, the idea of creating a cute theme for every page is exhausting to me.  Props to those of you who make lovely scrapbooks as a hobby.  A friend of mine writes an inspiring blog, you need to visit if you haven’t done so, called Honeysuckle High (by the way, she’s doing an awesome giveaway this week!).  Back in March she wrote about what she does to preserve "tangible memories" in her marriage.  Her wonderful, simple approach to putting together an album gave me hope.  Thanks Shelby!

This last Tuesday Kevin and I celebrated 3 years of marriage and I wanted to make something to keep our yearly highlights and lessons together in a similar fashion.  I say “lessons” because every year as we reflect back on what we learned in marriage, we sum it up in a phrase that we can hopefully remember.

As you can see, not a serious scrapbooker.

Nevertheless, mission accomplished.  As Shelby calls it “tangible memories.”  This year our lesson was “Faith Stretching Change.”  We never want to forget what God did in our lives over the past year!

P.S. I’m still working on the writing/layouts for years 1 & 2.  Updates on those later!

Twitter Background & About.me Page

Halfway there!  It’s time for Twitter to look like the rest of the branding for Rachel Mahan Art & Design.  I should probably update the picture soon too!  Kevin directed me toward About.me a year ago, I just didn’t publicize it.  About.me makes a great online business card.

Without further ado, here’s this week’s design projects:

Twitter

About.me

So far you’ve seen a “step-by-finished step” approach to launching different aspects of the branding for my business.  Thanks for the part you’ve played in it!  There is still more to come like a website!  But, the next few weeks I’m back to other non-branding projects.  It’s time for more paintings, sewing, crafting, etc.

Stay tuned, as coming milestones mean giveaways for you!

Rachel Mahan Art & Design Studio Logo

Drum roll please…#6 got the most votes and I changed some colors around to get this.

It would not be a project this week if I just announced the finalizing of my logo.  So, as part of “launching” (my business that’s been around with no logo/branding for a little while) my studio, I created 2 things.  A Facebook Fan Page and an Etsy Shop for fine art and graphic design.  Here’s the banner for the shop.  I couldn’t get away from the images I drew for the “R” in logo #1, #2, and #4!

Thanks so much for your participation last week!  Your responses were overwhelming and so helpful!  Feel free to “Like” my Facebook Page and “Favorite” my Etsy Shop to keep up with 52 Projects and what that will turn into in the future.

Thanks for following!  I’m almost half way through the year of projects.  You all are awesome!
