Rachel Mahan Art & Design Logo

I started painting pictures to sell 15 years ago.  I’ve had a love for art longer than I can remember.  In May of 2010 I quit my full-time job to do freelance fine art and graphic design full-time with a little photography mixed in.  I’ve been meaning to design my own logo for the last 2 years and have put it off because I’ve been too busy designing them for others.

It’s time to decide what will brand my business and I need your input!  Over the next week please leave a comment with your favorite colors, design, or combination of different designs to help me decide.  Which one do you think best captures my creative style over the past 23 weeks?

In no particular order…

The sooner you “vote” the better, as I will tweak the logo and use it for projects to come in the next 2 weeks!  Project #26, at the halfway mark is a big deal!  Thanks for your feedback!

So, this week is a photo project!  My husband, Kevin, and I had the opportunity to spend the last week with our friends, Dom & Bekah in Watsonville, CA (just south of Santa Cruz).  We had a great time!  I loved the sights of Cali even more than I imagined…

Trip to Big Sur just south of Santa Cruz on HWY 1:  Sea lions chillin’ on the pier (above).   Beautiful coastal cliffs (below).

Little hike around Big Sur where we saw the breathtaking waterfall.

Big Sur Cafe:  Cute outdoor seating and delicious coffee!

Steamers Lane:  World Famous for its surfing competitions.

The Redwoods at Butano State Park just north of Santa Cruz on HWY 1.  Gigantic!

Where we touched the Pacific Ocean.

Cute Strawberry Farm with wonderful chocolate covered strawberries!

Hidden gem.

A day in San Francisco ::  Britex Fabrics held 4 floors worth of every kind of fabric and notion you can imagine!

In Union Square there were 4 uniquely painted hearts.  Had to get a shot in of me and my wonderful man!

I love photographing fire escapes.  Not sure why, maybe partly due to my love for perspective!

I really like how this one turned out…the architecture, the lighting.  Too bad it was a commercialized building.

Trolley Car ride down to Fisherman’s Wharf!

Enjoyed some clam chowder in a sourdough bowl at Boudin’s.

I thought the bridge would look a little more red than it did.  I guess I was going off of images I saw from “Full House.”

Mmmm…Ghirardelli Square.  Didn’t have the smell of chocolate like Hershey’s chocolate factory, nonetheless it was a great experience!

Loved the look of these old fashioned light rail buses!  Each were painted with color schemes from different eras.

Thanks for checking out my project this week!  You have to experience California sometime if you have not already.  Maybe next time we’ll visit LA area or Northern CA.

Coffee is my favorite drink/dessert/snack.  I really think it’s the 6th love language.  So it’s not a surprise that our kitchen decor is made up of coffee and coffee mugs.

I started and worked on this set in 2007 and left them unfinished…at least to me they looked that way.  Another complete series of canvases that have sat mocking me for the last 4 years!  Finished!

Psalm 1
8” x 10” graphic

This week’s project has hints of a painting I’m working on for a client.

I was inspired by two things this week.  One, by a woman I follow on Twitter who has a cute Etsy Shop called Naptime Diaries.  She designs cool pieces of graphic art like this one!  Two, the painting, which also includes Psalm 1.
