Starry NIght with Church Lights
18” x 24” acrylic on canvas
(inspired by Van Gogh’s “Starry NIght”)

It was time to finish what I started this week.  You may have seen the “before finished” version of my painting in the post "Finish What I Started" back in January.  Here it is finally finished!

If you’re familiar with Starry Night you’ll notice something different…

I painted lights in the church and in some surrounding houses to symbolize life.  Van Gogh painted his with darkened church windows and doors because he thought it to be a cold lifeless place.

I love the lights in the sky in both paintings!  The sky, not just in this painting, is probably my favorite thing to capture on film or on a canvas.  The sky and trees…it’s a toss up!

P.S. This week is cutting it close to my personal deadline of Saturday at midnight because I spent most of my week on an exciting project to be revealed in the next couple weeks.  Lots of brainstorming and sketches!

"Transformation in the Struggle" by Ravin Productions
3 min. 42 sec.

Ravin is the combination of Kevin & I’s names and we use it when we make movies.  This week we created a movie that’s been in the planning stages for a while (not unlike many of my projects).  Enjoy our second short film!

Click here for the clearer version of the video.

My part was the lemon photography and design for begin/end images.  Kevin did a lot of the photography within the folders and he’s more of the mastermind behind video (tinkering accomplishments) in our house.  Technically Kevin put a lot more time into the production of this film.  Let’s face it though, I have more work ahead of me in the next 6 months! ;)

We had a lot of fun with the project this week!

Rosette Pillow
18” x 18”

Last September I saw this pillow in Target and figured I could make one to go in our living room (bottom right is the back).

My attempt started in October with 2 rosettes and ended this week with this…

It happened to be a project, like the Christmas Wreath, that looked to take a few hours.  It ended up being a project where each hand-sewn rosette took close to an hour to make.  One of those “what was I thinking” projects!

The good news is that I discovered another use for my Great Grandma’s yarn (the first use)…pillow cording!  Three strands of yarn make up “cording” for this pillow.

I’m glad I kept sewing after the first rosette and even more glad this project is complete!

City Light
8” x 12” Charcoal on Paper (11” x 14” frame)

This charcoal drawing is inspired by the city paintings I made for Project 3:52 and 11:52.  I have ideas of doing more pieces like this and the city ones because I love the architecture of cities and the concept in Matthew 5:14-16.

The closeup below shows the city reflected in the lightbulb.

Check-in in a month or so to see if this one is in painting form!
