Menu Planner
11” x 14”  Illustrator Graphic

It was time to do a graphic this week!  I was looking at my friend’s blog (Honeysuckle) and saw a great menu planner she printed as a free download.  Which led me to the site where she found it (Olliebird.com).  I love the idea, but wanted something coffee themed since I love coffee and that is what adorns my kitchen.  Also, I designed it in a mustard yellow (the color’s a little off in the photo) and with a little olive to go with some of our kitchen colors.  Here’s what I came up with.

I sketched the coffee mugs from some of our favorites that we have at home.

Overall, a really fun project!  I just hope it keeps me more on track with menu planning too!  If you’d like one of these as a free download, mention this post with a link back to this page on Twitter or Facebook, then comment in the comments below, and I would love to send you one!  Happy menu planning!

Sure
12” x 12”  Acrylic on Canvas

This week I was ready to do a painting again!  I was inspired by a song this week (can’t remember the song) which brought me to Hosea 6:3.  I love Hosea!  The Lord is as sure as the sun rising and the Spring rains.  How easily do we trust that one season comes after the next or that the morning and evening will come?  In contrast, at times, we doubt what God is doing and who He is.  He is sure.  He is certain.  He is constant.  Which lead me to painting “Sure.”

This is the first of my 52 Projects that is for sale.  A friend is having a “House Show for Slovenia” tonight to raise money for her trip to Slovenia where she’ll be teaching for 8 months.  So excited for her!  There will be live music, prize cheesecake for $5 a slice, and paintings for sale.  This painting is $50 and all proceeds go to her trip.  If you’re in Lynchburg, I hope you’ll stop by!

Fabric-lined “Basket” Crates

We have a utility room where we have to utilize every inch of storage.  For anyone who walks through it on their way to our deck it can be an eye sore.  I needed a solution that didn’t include buying large $15 wicker baskets (multiply that by 4, yikes!).

So, last October I purchased four bright green crates for $3 each and spray painted them at a friend’s legit backyard spray painting station.  Yes, this was back in October.  This week it was time to add a finished, basket-“esk” feel to them by lining them with fabric.

My goal was to finish all four, but my sewing machine kept jamming.  By the time I broke a needle and took the machine apart a couple times, I felt accomplished upon finishing one.  When I finish the other three in the upcoming weeks I’ll be sure to post a few mid-week pictures of the four “baskets” as a unit.

Photography:  Perspective & Repetition

I’ve always loved pieces of art that display perspective.  I’m not sure why.  Yesterday Kevin and I went walking downtown in search of a little perspective and repetition.  I was inspired by his Fotos post a couple weeks ago.  Repetition within industrial objects/structures, probably another love.  Here’s what we found!

The last two are my favorites.  I love how the light shines through and makes “rays!”
