Fall Burlap Wreath

A little here, a little there.  At some point I’ll be finished decorating for Fall…probably in the winter.  I wasn’t a big fan of the one I made last year so it was time for a change.  I especially liked this project because I had everything I needed expect one of the fabrics (found in the remnant bin) to make the wreath.  This was inspired by a few different wreaths I saw on Pinterest.

We welcome this change to our front door.  Maybe apple picking and all sorts of baking in the next couple weeks!  Again, welcome Fall!

Mirror, Photo Frame & Fall Mantle

Fall is my favorite season, it helps that Kevin and I both celebrate birthdays (soon our son will too!).  Beyond that I love the colors, sweaters, boots, hot cider, coffee (never out of season), scarves, and cooler weather.

It was time for a change of our mantle, not only for fall, but for some brighter colors.  The change that should stick through the seasons for awhile is the repainted mirror I found at a yard sale for $3.  Our mirror that hung here prior was black and it was making the mantle too dark.

The picture of us had a stark white mat so I added some scrapbook paper to give it a warmer, fall feel.

Lastly, the mantle is back in shape.  The last time I gave it a redo was probably in the Spring.  I was too lazy this summer, and our living room is decorated in colors of summer, to give it a seasonal makeover.

I’d love to know what you’re doing this fall to welcome cooler weather and warmer beverages!

T-shirt Rug

The rug is finally finished!  25 t-shirts, 2 bottles of yellow dye, and 44 hours of work later.  A friend showed me this link for a rug earlier this year and I slowly realized, as I moved forward with the project, that it was going to take a while.

I do hope to post more pictures when it is in the completed baby room.

Thanks to Kevin and my friend Kathleen who both put in a couple hours of cutting t-shirt strips and dying.

Fun Knobs!

After last week’s 17 hour project and next week’s anticipated 20+ hour project, it was time for a simple, couple hour project this week.  I would have loved to have found an old dresser to refinish for our baby room, but alas there are too many projecst on the table to realistically complete.  So, I decided to buy an IKEA dresser and spruce it up with some fun colored knobs.  If you’ve been checking out projects related to his room, you are probably starting to wonder where the fun colors come into play.  Here’s the dresser we started with (well, after we took the pile of IKEA wood and put it together.

I found these wooden knobs on clearance at Lowe’s for a total of $4 and used some primer and paint I already had.  Due to my particular eye for color I could not settle on a paint swatch so I mixed some light blue and yellow paints (the yellow from the chalkboard project).

The screws that came with the knobs were too long for our dresser, so the only hitch was trying to find some that would work.  We found them with no problem at our local Boonsboro Hardware who said we could pay for them next time we were in because we had no cash on hand.  We love local!

We’ll save the boring pewter knobs for a more serious room one day or paint them a different color for the next kid!

Thanks for following…even through the onset of more baby-related projects!
